| Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to The Speakeasy , where the drinks are always cold and the tunes are always hot. We are all here for the same reason, to forget about the world outside for a while and have a grand old time. Out there times might be tough, running the rat race, watching out for the man, and trying to keep up with the changes, but in here its simple, throw your cares to the wind and for at least a little while be free. In here prohibition is dead, so belly up to the bar and grab yourself a tall cold one or find the finest guy or gal in the joint and take ‘em for a spin. This ain’t your daddy’s dance hall. This is The Speakeasy , so let’s get started.”
The Speakeasy blends the atmosphere and attitude of a 1920’s era gin joint with contemporary covers that span genres and decades. Instead of focusing on one particular musical era or style, we strive to bring a little bit of everything to the table, mixing current radio hits with the classics. Nothing is out of bounds; Glen Miller might follow Gwen Stefani, Soulja Boy meets Charlie Daniels, and maybe AC/DC and Joan Jett get together to rock. As a band we have very varied musical interests and we know that the audience does too, so we bring an eclectic mix that lets everyone go home happy (don’t believe it, check out our song list). We make sure to play some of the staples too, the songs that everyone expects to hear at a cover band show. But to keep things interesting we throw in a bit of a twist, changing the feel of a song or even calling up some audience participation backup singers. At The Speakeasy the music is a means to an end, everyone having a good time. We get the audience involved in the experience in order to enhance the entertainment for them and for us. Whether its crowd sing-a-longs or dance breaks, the point is they have fun, lots of it. We put a great deal of effort and energy into our performances and what we get back is well worth it, a satisfied crowd that keeps up with us, dancing and singing and carrying on. We strive to create a care-free atmosphere where people can relax and enjoy themselves. With the troubles and tribulations of the daily grind, people often miss out on an important part of their lives, the fun stuff. People end up preventing themselves from enjoying life because they have too much to worry about. Prohibition ended in 1933, but a new more subtle prohibition replaced it. Our current prohibition is not on alcohol but on freedom to enjoy living life, to relax, and to have a good time without worrying about anything. That’s why at The Speakeasy we pronounce, “Prohibition is Dead”. |
